AC Milan wins in UEFA Cup

Seven-time European champion AC Milan began a rare foray into the UEFA Cup confidently, and Tottenham secured its first win of the season in the first leg of the opening round.
Both teams have endured torrid starts to their league campaigns, but Milan beat FC Zurich 3-1 and the Spurs secured a slender 2-1 advantage over Wisla Krakow.
Violence-plagued Napoli got a 3-2 victory over Benfica despite a bottle thrown onto the pitch in southern Italy, while Udinese won 2-0 at Borussia Dortmund. It was an easier night for Italian rival Sampdoria, which routed FBK Kaunas 5-0.
English clubs Manchester City and Aston Villa both came from behind to beat inferior opposition, while Everton was held to a draw at home.

Columbus still best

Columbus still best: Robbie Rogers scored 19 seconds into the second half to help the host Columbus Crew beat the New York Red Bulls 3-1 for their fifth win in six games.

Frankie Hejduk, a defender who also assisted on another goal, and Eddie Gaven also had goals for Columbus, an MLS-best 14-6-5. Juan Pablo Angel scored for New York (9-8-8).

Great tournament: Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland will compete in a British Isles soccer tournament in Dublin in 2011, but England was not interested in participating, the Football Association said.Busby SEO Test
